Design collaboration with SOM San Francisco

S/U/M developed a pair of acoustically optimized enclosures for the pipe organs within the Christ the Light Cathedral in Oakland CA. Each baffle provides structural support for the organ pipes while shaping their acoustic projection into the congregation space. The design integrates with the cathedral’s heavy timber structural shell, balancing mass, resonance, and transparency.
